SEÑORA CÓNSUL:

Atentamente hago de su conocimiento que en consideración a que Reverendo Landaverde ha colectado ya la asistencia humanitaria que pretende enviar a nuestro país para auxiliar  a nuestros connacionales afectados por el desastre, nuestro Despacho a resuelto en común acuerdo con la Dirección General de Protección Civil, aceptar el envío de los donativos usados, a pesar de que, tal como se lo he manifestado previamente, ello va en contra de los requisitos claramente definidos en el Manual para la Gestión de Asistencia Humanitaria Internacional en casos de Desastres, del cual se envió copia a todas nuestras embajadas y consulados.

Le agradeceremos informe al reverendo Landaverde que esta excepción a las disposiciones legalmente establecidas, estaría sujeta a que esta asistencia humanitaria debe ser llevada directamente a las poblaciones que se pretende auxiliar, es decir no debe de ir al CIFCO, ello con el objeto de evitar los posibles problemas que podrían derivarse de la aceptación de artículos usados.

 Le agradeceremos que nos mantengan al tanto de la salida y del ingreso al país de estos donativos, a efecto de hacer las coordinaciones del caso con migración y aduanas y garantizar que se cumplan las instrucciones de nuestros titulares.

Solidarity with People from El Salvador

EL Salvador, a country  where its people must poses an iron will to endure bad governments, a 12 year long civil war and constant natural disasters (that in most cases are provoked and exacerbated by poor government and business environmental practices), is asking again for your Solidarity.

        

        On the evening of Saturday November 7th heavy rains began falling on El Salvador as the storm moved through the region, causing rivers to burst their banks and mud slides in the hilly interior to bury homes and roads.

        On Sunday morning, Salvadorians who weren't directly affected, including thousands residing in areas of high risk  (who by mere luck were able to escape mother nature's revenge), woke up to the news that more than 120 people had been killed by floods and mud slides in El Salvador after a weekend of heavy rains driven by hurricane Ida. Authorities said 124 people had died and at least 60 were missing. About 7,000 more are in shelters.

        Salvadorians and friends residing in Minnesota have joined efforts with church members of Our Lady of Guadalupe Anglican Catholic (Chicago, Illinois) and its Priest Father Jose Landaverde to send two semi-trucks full with clothes, food and medicine for the victims.  In addition, two mobile clinics and staff to attend to the victims will be traveling down to El Salvador.   See picture albums below.

        The material aid and two clinics are valued at approximately 2 million dollars. The total cost of sending this aid to El Salvador is approximately $11,000. This money will pay for diesel, food and return airfare tickets for members of the humanitarian mission.

        Brothers and Sister in Solidarity, I want to ask you for your tax deductible donation of $20 or more. With your financial help and the thousand s of people who have donated clothes, food, time etc. we will be able to bring this material aid to those facing hardship.

     Your contribution is not going to change the historic systems of injustice, oppression and poverty in El Salvador. However, I assure you, it will send a strong message of hope and solidarity to our now fallen brothers and sisters in El Salvador, supporting their recovery from this tragedy and giving them the strength to get back to building a better society that respects all human beings.

    This caravan and the distribution of goods is under the leadership and supervision of Reverend Jose Landaverde.

:

Debido al Huracán Ida miles de personas han quedado damnificados, desaparecidos, y muertos en El Salvador.  La misión Anglicana de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe y la comunidad Centro Americana y Mexicana estamos solicitando su soladiridad para transportar productos humanitarios que Irán en transito atra vez de el territorio Mexicano.  Estaremos partiendo de Chicago, Illinois el 23 de Noviembre y arribando a la frontera de Matamoros lo más pronto posible el 25 de Noviembre.  Nos tomaremos 3 días para cruzar el territorio Mexicano después de haber llenado todas las normativas de Aduana.  Pensando salir el 26 de Noviembre de la frontera de Matamoros, Tamaulipas esperamos estar en la frontera de Talismán, Guatemala y el estado de Chiapas, México el día 29 de Noviembre.  Transportaremos en transito equipo medico, comida, y ropa.  Al igual las unidades que transportaran debida ayuda humanitaria que serán 2 vehículos de cargo y una clínica movible.  A continuación de este documento le anexamos el inventario de los productos que estamos transportando en transito por territorio Mexicano para los damnificados de el Huracán Ida en El Salvador junto con el equipo medico.  Señor Presidente Felipe Calderón Hinojosa muchas gracias por solidarizarse con el pueblo Salvadoreño.  Especialmente con esos que están sufriendo debido a los desastres naturales.

Salvadoreans United of Minnesota working together with the Justice Mission of Chicago to bring Humanitarian Aid to El Salvador

The Salvadoreans United in Minnesota group -SUM-is conducting a humanitarian campaign to send material support to communities in El Salvador affected by storm Ida.

Salvadoran authorities say at least 192 people were killed by floods and landslides that swept through the country last week.
El Salvador's Civil Protection agency said in a statement that 89 of the victims were killed in the state of San Vicente, where days of heavy rains caused mud and boulders to sweep down the side of the Chichontepec volcano before dawn a week ago.
The agency said Sunday that dozens more remain missing. It stated that more than 14,000 Salvadoran have been affected by the floods and mudslides that were indirectly linked to Hurricane Ida's passage through the region. (http://www.speroforum.com/a/22340/Hurricane-devastation-in-El-Salvador

We are  urging all organizations and individuals in Minnesota to join us in this campaign.  We are accepting clothing in decent condition, canned and non-perishable foods, medical supplies and monetary help.

 Salvadoreans residing in Minnesota and Chicago are joining efforts to send a caravan of material aid including two mobile clinics. Your financial support is crucial to pay for gas, food and return airfares  for the volunteer drivers.

Friday November 20th, a truck will leave Minneapolis for Chicago with most of the materials collected. Tuesday November 23rd a caravan of trucks including two mobile clinics will leave Chicago for  El Salvador. Father Jose Landaverde, one of the lead organizers and member of the Justice Mission, estimates that the Caravan will arrive in EL Salvador December 3rd.

Salvadorenos Unidos en Minnesota

Miembros de la Comunidad Salvadoreña y amigos se reunieron en el Centro Comunitario Waite House para organizar ayuda material y monetaria para El Salvador.
El grupo, autollamado Salvadoreños Unidos en Minnesota, compuesto por miembros de el Comité Salvadoreño conocido como Pulgarcito,  miembros de la Fundación Voces, El grupo San Pablo-Ciudad Romero, y miembros comunitarios entre otros están organizando la respuesta humanitaria.
El grupo se ha planteado dos objetivos:
1. Respuesta Inmediata. Responder inmediatamente con ayuda humanitaria. Para lograrlo están uniendo esfuerzos con la Caravana humanitaria que está saliendo de la Ciudad de Chicago el 23 de Noviembre. Salvadoreños Unidos está Solicitando ayuda financiera para gastos de la Caravana y la ayuda como medicina para la tos, calentura, dolores corporales, etc. O cualquier otro medicamento que se puede obtener sin receta médica. La primera ayuda será transportada a Chicago antes del 23 de Noviembre. En Chicago, el Padre José Landavarde y su equipo coordinara la caravana que llegara a El Salvador la primera Semana de Diciembre.
2. Repuesta a mediano Plazo. Salvadoreños Unidos seguirá recogiendo donaciones por los próximos dos meses y trabajar en alternativas de envió de un segundo contingente de ayuda. Todavía está en discusión el medio de transporte.
Invitamos a todos aquellas personas interesadas en coordinar ayuda a El Salvador a unir esfuerzos con Salvadoreños Unidos.
